FOCUS CENTRE COUNTY

Our Goal

1.  Identify an issue that if something were done about it, it would:

  • make life in Centre County better

  • impact all parts of Centre County

2.   And then implement a plan to do just that.

How YOU Fit In

The first step was to identify the issue. We held a number of focus groups throughout Centre County - one in each school district in the County (see below). There were NO preconceived issues going into this initiative, and ALL residents of Centre County were invited to come to ANY of the locations.

On September 10, an all-county focus group was held to review the issues from the local focus groups, to hear of any addition areas, and to determine the ONE issue for CCCF to address that will benefit the residents of Centre County. The group could not decide between two issues: affordable housing and family and childrens' issues.

Focus Group Dates and Locations

A final county-wide meeting was held on Monday, September 10th, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science & Technology, Pleasant Gap.

Five public meetings were held during June and July to ascertain as many community members’ perspectives, ideas and comments as possible. To develop fresh ideas about how Centre County should focus impact efforts for the future, CCCF encouraged all community members to attend the focus meetings. The Community Focus Group Meetings were held on:

  • Monday, June 25th: Mt. Nittany Middle School, 7:00-9:00 pm

  • Thursday, June 28th: Bald Eagle High School, 7:00-9:00 pm

  • Monday, July 16th: Philipsburg High School, 7:00-9:00 pm

  • Monday, July 30th: Bellefonte Middle School, 7:00-9:00 pm

  • Tuesday, July 31st: Penns Valley Middle School, 7:00-9:00 pm

Then What?

After the final issue has been determined, a strategic plan will be designed. The deadline for release to the public will be by December 31, 2007. Once the plan is put together, funds and community resources will be sought to begin to implement it.
