Information for Grant Applicants

The Foundation’s staff is happy to answer questions about the grant process and to help grant seekers with their applications. Contact the Foundation’s office for a grant package that includes the funding guidelines, an application and instructions or download the material from the site below.

Meeting Federal and State Requirements

As a publicly-supported non-profit organization qualified to receive tax-deductible contributions, the Foundation is subject to various laws and regulations. Therefore, organizations applying for grants are asked to provide certain information and documentation to allow the Foundation to fulfill its responsibilities. This includes a copy of the determination letter from the IRS and the registration number from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Charitable Organizations.

Generally, organizations that solicit contributions in excess of $25,000 or who pay anyone to solicit (including any full or part-time employees) must register. Additional information can be found at www.dos.state.pa.us/char.

Application Deadlines

Grant applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year. Requests for $1,000 and below will be reviewed on a monthly basis by the President and Executive Committee.

Requests over $1,000 will be reviewed for the quarterly meetings of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Applications must be received at the Foundation’s office by the following dates to be included on the board meeting agendas noted:

March 1 – May’s agenda

June 1 – August’s agenda

September 1 – November’s agenda

December 1 – February’s agenda

Any application that arrives too late for one meeting will be placed on the agenda of the next meeting.
