Applying for a Grant
Application Timeline and Materials
In place of our usual spring granting cycle, our discretionary funds will be used for a special granting event that will be open to all local public charities. We will be contacting local nonprofits with more details about this exciting opportunity in the near future.
The first round of 2012 competitive grant applications will be due Monday, July 16th at 9 a.m. with the grants being voted on at the August 15th board meeting. An additional round of grants will occur in the fall. The due date for those will be Monday, October 29th with grants being voted on at the December 5th board meeting. Online applications for these granting cycles will be available here as it gets closer to their due date.
Project Grants
The Centre County Community Foundation has recently finished reviewing and updating of our granting process. Our goal was to make our granting process easier for applicants by clarifying and streamlining the application process wherever possible. We also sought ways to assist organizations that are struggling with operational shortfalls brought on by recent changes in the economy. Here are a few of the changes you will notice
- We are now allowing applications for operational funding when an organization can demonstrate a short-term operational need.
- We have provided guidelines which describe the average grant amount and encourage applicants to apply for grants close to the average so we can fully fund application requests whenever possible.
- We are limiting how often organizations can apply once they receive funding.
- We have significantly simplified the budget form and now require only a brief project budget and budget narrative. Organizational budgets are no longer required, but we do require you submit a copy of your latest IRS 990 form.
- We are now using a scoring grid as part of the application evaluation process and provide the scoring guidelines to applicants as a reference.
