Ways to Give Now
There are many ways to make charitable gifts, and some may allow you to provide more than you might have considered. Gifts to the Centre County Community Foundation are tax deductible for individuals who itemize on their Federal income tax return. Key tax considerations which may help you increase the amount of your gifts are described below. You can designate which fund your gift will benefit, or not designate and allow the Foundation to put it towards an area of greatest need.
- Immediate Giving
- The easiest and most direct way to give is a gift of cash, credit card, or electronic funds transfer. These gifts are fully and immediately tax deductible.
- Credit Card
- You can make a gift with a credit card by accessing our secure online giving form.
- Electronic Funds Transfer
- You can also allow the Foundation to set up monthly gift payments through your bank or savings institution from an account you specify so you can spread out your giving over a period of time.
- Personal Check
- Of course you can also send a personal check directly to the Foundation.
- Appreciated Securities
- When you give long-term appreciated securities, not only do you receive an income tax deduction equal to the market value of the securities, but you also avoid capital gains taxes on the transfer. Contact the Foundation or your financial advisor for specific steps on donating securities.
- Real and Personal Property
- A residence or other real property (art, jewelry, or other personal valuables) may be given as an outright gift or left to the Foundation as part of an estate. You may prefer to donate your residence, farm or vacation home and retain the right to occupy it for life. Raw land and commercial property may also be used for charitable giving and may offer significant tax advantages to the donor. Contact the Foundation or your financial advisor for specific steps on donating real and personal property.
